Looking for some help. I took my 61 pioneer for a ride this morning here in mass. I stopped at a light towards the end of my ride which was about ten miles and the car began to shake and the red oil light began to flicker. It smoothed out when I accelerated but did the same thing again when I was backing the car into the garage. The car has a 318 poly with a pertronix ignitor 2 kit with the flamethrower coil. I have bypassed the ballast resistor by splicing in a piece of wire as per the pertronix instructions. The oil was recently changed and I put a bottle of gumout fuel treatment in the tank the other day. The are was running great up rt125 at about 60 mph and it was pulling nicely with plenty of power. I looked over my pertronix install to make sure it was set up right and I think its ok. Just trying to give a background to help figure this problem out. When I installed the new coil I removed the old one and it had a small condensor looking thing hooked up to the negative coil terminal. I just assumed I didn't need it. Any help would be appreciated. The fuel pump is fairly new and the fuel filter is brand new. I also just had the transmission rebuilt.
thanks,
Ken

I am not a big fan of any of the mechanic in a can stuff as anything that it does loosen has to go somewhere.
Check fuel filter, carby (look in the fuel bowl for debris), spark plugs for lots of carbon build up
The shakeing and oil light flickering indicate low idle speed
Idle circuit blocking up in the carb can cause this as well as poor firing cylinders
