HONOLULU (AP) - President Barack Obama is marking the Christmas holiday with calls to American service members stationed around the world.
The White House says Obama spoke with 10 service members, two from each branch of the military. He made the calls Christmas Eve from his rented vacation home on the Hawaiian island of Oahu, where he and his family are spending the holidays.
The Obamas are spending a quiet Christmas morning with friends and family.
The president has kept a low profile since arriving in Hawaii Friday evening to start a vacation that had been delayed due to the stalemate in Washington over extending payroll tax cuts. Obama's only outings thus far have been a trip to the golf course and dinner out with his wife.
